Day 7
Friday 7 June, 2024
After a leisurely breakfast, we will drive to Lourmarin to attend its market day with its offerings of vintage giftware and local produce. Cobbled streets and shop fronts enticing a visit to shop and savour will be found here. An early lunch in a local café will be enjoyed before we head to the very popular and photogenic Senanque Abbey, an ancient Cistercian abbey in Vauclause founded in 1148 @abbayesenanque. A search online will show a majestic stone building surrounded by a field of lavender (yes June is definitely the month to see these lavender fields in all their splendour) which, along with honey, the present-day Cistercian monks grow for their livelihood. We will also be accompanied by a local travel guide who possesses a great and in-depth knowledge of this historiological institution.
We will then return to our home early that afternoon to pack your suitcases (please ensure you bring plenty of bubble wrap for those delicate treasures).
Tonight, is the night we celebrate, with our final professionally cooked French dinner, what an adventure we have all had over the last week. A celebration of new friendships formed, long lasting memories made, country style French living, adventurous tales, and reminiscent chatter.
