Vineyard in front of a Church

Day 5

Wednesday 5 June, 2024

After breakfast, we will travel to Saint Remy de Provence to visit Saint-Paul Asylum.  It is here between May 1889 and May 1890 that artist Vincent Van Gogh admitted himself to this Asylum within this original Franciscan convent where he painted hundreds of artworks capturing its landscape, gardens and interiors.  We will have an opportunity to put into practice our newly acquired photographic skills learnt the day before capturing all the atmospheric, charming, and historical delights of this local 12th century landmark.

Lunch and a wine tasting (for those not wishing to partake in this you may enjoy the rose gardens and tranquil scenery or take a motorised bike to visit outlining areas of this French wonderland) will be enjoyed at the picturesque private hotel and winery La Bastide de Marie @labastidedemarie.

After this afternoon of fun and frivolity on our way home, we will head to ‘the viewpoint’ in Gordes for ‘must do’ photos of this township with its breathtaking view consisting of muted architectural buildings and rolling hills in the background.

Dinner tonight will be back at our home prepared by our local chef specialising in French cuisine.
