Day 2
Sunday 2 June, 2024
After an early buffet breakfast consisting of local produce in the informal dining room, we will travel by private transport to the first of the local brocantes on this tour, Carpentras. The hustle and bustle of this busy marketplace will excite and entice with its vintage offerings. After this brocante, we will visit L’Isle-Sur-La-Sorgue (www.islesurlasorguetourisme.com) which is known as the antiques capital of Provence (if not France if you exclude Paris) with its brocante, permanent antique stores as well as the numerous art galleries and interior décor shops. L’Isle-Sur-la-Sorgue is also referred to as the “island on the Sorgue” where the river Sorgue flows freely circling this city. It is here every Sunday morning this town becomes a busy hive of activity with nearly 300 bric-a-brac-stalls. Old water wheels remain, although no longer used, as testimony to the textile and paper making industries that once thrived where rich merchants built imposing mansions.
We will break for lunch at the first of our Michelin Star restaurants which is situated in a private lush courtyard before we resume shopping and exploring this picturesque town (if needed).
We will then head back home for another fresh and delicious dinner prepared with local produce by our private chef.
